Burn

verse:

Come and stay for the night,

And warm your soul by my flame,

And as the lamb leaves the flock,

You'll leave your fears just the same.

If only you would feel the way I do,

It'd be so easy.

If only you would feel the way I do,

And don't try to fight when we...

chorus:

Set this house ablaze,

To just sift through the remains,

And we'll burn, burn, burn, burn,

We'll burn, burn, burn, burn.

verse:

And it feels so weird driving home,

We just seem to pass on exchange,

When it's clean, white thoughts for them all,

Well one clean, white thought is what I think,

(It's what I think).

That if only you would feel the way I do,

It'd be so easy,

And if only you could feel the way I do,

And don't try to fight it.

chorus:

Set this house ablaze,

And just sift through the remains,

And we'll burn, burn, burn, burn,

Yeah, we'll burn, burn, burn burn.

Daniel on lead vocals and lead guitar, Derek on bass, Alex on guitar and backing vocals, Austin on drums.

At Daniel's urging, the boys took a minimalist approach when developing "Burn" with only one guitar playing sporadically throughout the verses backed by a simple, but driving drum beat.  Daniel's vocals are the focal point of the song, with Alex adding texture with guitar number two.  Derek shines with a thumping bass line--the backbone of "Burn."

"Burn" was debuted at the Fort Scott High School Band Showcase in January, 2004.  The song first appeared recorded on the Cannonball Picnic EP.
